How to Pan–tilt–zoom CCTV

Guide to Using the Pan, Tilt, and Zoom Features on Our CCTV System

Step One: Our CCTV system operates on a separate VLAN to manage traffic and ensure restricted access. To connect to the correct VLAN, you need to switch your current VLAN by changing the SSID of your Wi-Fi network. The Wi-Fi network on the CCTV VLAN is hidden for added security, so you will need to manually enter the SSID.

To do this:

  • Click on the Wi-Fi icon at the bottom right of the taskbar.

  •    Go to the “Manage Wi-Fi Connections” tab to see a list of all available Wi-Fi networks.

  • Scroll to the end of the list and select “Hidden Network.”

  • You will be prompted to enter the SSID for our network/VLAN where the CCTV is located. The SSID for the CCTV network is Unifi Protect Test

  • The password for this Wi-Fi network can be obtained from IT services.

Step Two: Once connected to this VLAN, you can view the CCTV feed on a web browser. A list of CCTV IP addresses can be obtained from IT services. As of 24/9/2024, the CCTV used for this explanation is the one facing the main street, accessible at http://192.168.254.145/.

Once you navigate to this page, you should see the CCTV feed.

Occasionally, the CCTV software may be outdated, so you will need to install WebComponents. The installation file can be found at: Newquay Town Council\Confidential - Confidential\IT Service\Installation Files\WebComponents.exe. Ensure the browser is closed before installing this software.

Note: Sometimes, to allow this software to run, Edge must be set to Internet Explorer mode. To do this, click on the three dots at the top of the web page.

Step Three:

Once you have logged in with the username “admin” and the password (which can be obtained from IT services), you should see this view.

To control the PTZ, click on the red arrow on the right-hand side of the page.

This will display the controls, which you can use to operate the PTZ of the camera.

Step four:

Remember to log out of the camera once you’re done

And to change your Wi-Fi back to either RNTC2022 or NewquayTownCouncil
